Job Overview
iqbusiness is seeking an experienced Data Integration Lead for a 12-month contract to collaborate with an international client from our Welgemoed offices in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days on-site and 2 days working from home.
- As the Data Integration Lead, you will be responsible for shaping and guiding the design of seamless data flows across the organisation.
- You will architect, implement, and oversee integration solutions that meet and exceed business requirements, leveraging your strong expertise in SQL and cloud-based integration tools such as Informatica.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will translate complex business needs into effective technical solutions through clear communication, performance optimisation, and reliable documentation.
- This role also includes leading and mentoring junior engineers while driving excellence in data integration delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Data Integration: Design, develop, and implement end-to-end data integration solutions.

Design & Architecture: Architect robust, scalable integration solutions with consideration for data volume, performance, and reliability.

Data Extraction, Mapping & Transformation: Create and manage ETL/ELT processes to ensure accurate and consistent data integration across systems.

Data Quality Management: Implement data quality controls, validation processes, and error-handling mechanisms.

Release Testing: Coordinate and manage release testing activities for data integration solutions.

Collaboration: Partner with data analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver integrated solutions.

Performance Optimisation: Monitor, analyse, and optimise integration processes for efficiency and scalability.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, data mappings, and workflow diagrams.

Troubleshooting & Support: Provide timely support and resolution for data integration and performance-related issues.

Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop junior data engineers.
Skills & Experience Required
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5–7 years’ experience in data integration, data engineering, or a similar technical role.

Proven experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines, including data mapping, transformation, and orchestration.

Strong hands-on experience with:
- ETL tools (e.g. Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, DBT, etc.)
- SQL and relational databases
- Large-scale, high-volume data integration environments

Solid background in data quality management, validation, and error handling.

Experience troubleshooting complex integration and performance issues.

Proven experience leading or mentoring junior engineers.
