Job Purpose

  • The primary purpose of the IT Technical Support Specialist is to manage, maintain, and deploy hardware resources to ensure the efficient operation of the organisation’s IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Management

  • Manage and maintain all IT hardware assets, including computers, servers, networking equipment, peripherals, and related devices.

Hardware Maintenance

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Hardware Deployment

  • Coordinate and execute the deployment of new hardware across the organisation.

  • Configure systems, install required software, and ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure.

Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date hardware inventory records, including asset locations, configurations, and usage.

  • Support effective procurement processes and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.

User Support

  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users with hardware-related queries and issues.

  • Respond to service requests, troubleshoot problems, and guide users on correct hardware usage.

Security and Compliance

  • Enforce IT security policies and best practices to protect hardware assets.

  • Implement access controls, encryption, and security updates to reduce cyber risks.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent qualification

  • NQF-aligned Information Technology qualification (Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree)


Key Competencies and Skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage projects and teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all organisational levels
