Job Description

Manica Group Namibia (Pty) Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified Operations Assistant for a fixed-term period of six (6) months. The successful candidate will support the efficient delivery of ground handling services to ensure smooth aircraft operations and turnaround times.

Primary Purpose

To support ground handling operations, including the loading and offloading of baggage, aircraft cleaning, servicing, and equipment support to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Key Performance Areas

Operations Efficiency

• Operate and arrange ground handling equipment for aircraft.

• Handle baggage loading and offloading to and from aircraft.

• Clean aircraft in accordance with operational standards.

• Ensure all required equipment is available at the aircraft parking bay prior to arrival.

• Assist passengers with disabilities.

• Support the tagging of sky-check luggage.

• Perform cleaning and basic maintenance of ground handling equipment.

Safety and Quality

• Strictly adhere to ramp safety protocols, including signal clearance procedures, and provide the thumbs-up signal only when it is safe to approach the aircraft.

• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements within the area of responsibility.

• Maintain accountability for aviation safety and security within the designated operational area.

Minimum Requirements

• NQF Level 2 qualification (Grade 10).

• Minimum of two (2) years’ basic aviation experience.

Other Requirements

• Valid driver’s licence.

• Literate and numerate, with a good understanding of written and spoken English.

• Sound knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) systems.

• Relevant aviation or airline operations training and/or certifications.
